Ramadan's trace: training workshops for teachers in Indonesia
The holy month has passed, but with the help of our traders, who contributed to the fundraiser at the time, we continue to participate in charitable programs.
In an effort to empower educators, we sponsored two training workshops for teachers from ten schools in Indonesia. This initiative supported the 'I Love Reading' literacy program run by the charity Yayasan Tunas Aksara, which aims to improve learning for all children nationwide.
The first training workshop was held in Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, on 24 April. The second one—in Palembang, South Sumatra, from 17 to 21 May. These workshops provided valuable training, equipping teachers with the necessary skills and tools to enhance their work with children.
The activity also provided curriculum resources and reading books to support the training workshops. Each school received a set of Saya Suka Membaca (SSM) materials, including an Indonesian language literacy curriculum designed to engage children and facilitate teachers' work.
The Saya Suka Membaca materials have been extensively tested and proven effective in developing children's literacy skills. By providing access to levelled reading books and integrated learning resources, the SSM program aims to create a learning environment that fosters a love of reading and enables all Indonesian children to develop their literacy skills.
Along with general literacy promotion, our team also included a financial literacy workshop from our ambassador Andre Rizky. Andre explained the basics of financial literacy to the teachers involved in the program.
We never stop thanking our traders and are sure their generosity will change the lives of many Indonesian children.
