NZ 2014/15 budget deficit slightly wider-than-forecast

FXStreet (Bali) - The New Zealand budget has been released, projecting a 2014/15 budget deficit of NZ$648m against a NZ$272m in December.

Bloomberg is running the main headlines, noting that the NZ Treasury sees inflation reaching 2% in 4Q 2016, with jobless rate falling to 4.7% by 1Q 2017.

NZ Fin Min English sees option of modest tax cuts in 2017, conditional to "fiscal and economic conditions allowing." English added that the growth projections are for an average of 2.8% over next 4 years, Bloomberg reports.

As per the forecasts GDP growth in year through March 2016, is expected to reach 2.9% . In 2016-17, the budget surplus is projected at NZ$1.48b.
