EU announces more sanctions to Russia

FXStreet (San Francisco) - The European Union has announced further sanctions to Russia "concerning restrictive measures in respect of actions undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine."

According to the official paper, "in view of the gravity of the situation, the Council considers that additional persons should be added to the list of natural and legal persons, entities and bodies subject to restrictive measures as set out in Annex I to Regulation (EU) No 269/2014."

Sanctions list include Dmitry Rogozin, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia; Sergey Glazyev, Adviser to the President; Valentina Matviyenko, Speaker of the Federation Council; and Sergei Naryshkin, Speaker of the State Duma. The list includes 12 individuals.

Early in the day, European Council Herman Van Rompuy said the EU strongly condemn the referundum in Crimea and they won't recognize the annexation nor will they recognize in the future. "In the absence of de-escalation from Russia, the European Council has decided to expand the list of individuals, subject to visa bans and assets freeze. We put forward another 12 names to the list of 21, agreed to earlier this week. We are also canceling the EU, Russia summit and member states would likewise cancel regular bilateral summits."
